Taxstone then doubled down after a follower clowned him on Twitter.

Taxstone, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, was ordered to serve the sentence in state prison. Following his release, he must also complete five years of post-release supervision for the killing of Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

Banga was shot dead at a Manhattan concert venue Irving Plaza just before rapper T.I. was scheduled to perform. Taxstone was convicted Thursday on manslaughter, assault and weapon possession charges.

Taxstone reportedly claimed “half the stuff that was told on the stand by Troy Ave — who was offered a shorter sentence for testimony — is a complete lie to protect himself from going to jail,” journalist Shawn Setaro reported.

“Offering unknown information in a criminal investigation that can help the governments case is snitching. Gunna has always denied snitching. He took an Alford plea and walked free from prison after admitting to a judge in court that YSL is a gang and that he had witnessed criminal activities.

Gunna was sentenced to five years with one served in prison. The four-year sentence was “suspended” with Gunna left to carry out 500 hours of community service.

New York podcaster Taxstone was found guilty in connection with the 2016 shooting death of Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. Banga was shot dead at a Manhattan concert venue Irving Plaza just before rapper T.I. was scheduled to perform. Taxstone, real name Daryl Campbell, was convicted Thursday on manslaughter, assault and weapon possession charges.

Troy Ave testified against Taxstone and said he was forced to shoot on that fateful night.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg issued the following statement after the verdict was handed down.

“Daryl Campbell was convicted of killing a man and shooting three others during a tragic and deadly confrontation in a packed New York City music venue. In addition to seriously injuring his rival and killing his rival’s bodyguard, Mr. Campbell shot innocent bystanders and put hundreds of other lives at risk. We will vigorously prosecute anyone who commits this type of deadly violence.”

Taxstone, who is currently awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of manslaughter in the first degree, talked with Complex where he addressed the comments.

“Nore’s Drink Champs is a legendary podcast. I still like it. I have my little issues with Nore, but I don’t hold on to sh-t too long like other people do. But I still enjoy his podcast because I like Hip Hop and I like rap legends. But I don’t like when a person tries to act like they’re intelligent and they know what they’re doing all the time and somebody that tries to act like they’re supportive of the culture.”

He added, “I didn’t really address it because that shit is not even true. Like if you really do your due diligence to look at the Tax Season podcast, I didn’t post videos on YouTube. And that was intentional because I wasn’t getting paid from it. So if you really see my podcast, it’s only clips of them. It’s only one full interview of Tax Season ever on video. And that’s the Meek Mill interview I did in Atlanta. So that’s false because I didn’t even post videos on YouTube of my podcast. I actually have all of my videos on my hard drive because I knew that that was a different form of revenue that I could get.”

Taxstone claimed that Flex paid a man who ran up on Charlamagne Tha God years back. Flex called him a “detective agency.”

Taxstone is behind bars waiting to go on trial.

In a 2019 interview with AllHipHop, Troy Ave spoke about the upcoming Taxstone trial:

“S##t, everybody knows what happened. It ain’t even nothing to argue. It’s right there, the proof is in the pudding. The proof is in black and white paperwork, in the FBI paperwork. I don’t even have to argue anything, it’s there. They see that it’s not my gun, I never brought no gun in the club. DNA evidence proves that, so where’d I get it from?,” he said.

“I got it from the assailant [Taxstone]. I didn’t make this up, we didn’t splice the genetics on the one gun. They should just free Troy Ave. If this were to happen somewhere else, I would have been a hero. Because if you look at it, I saved mad people from getting shot. There’s three other victims, more people could have died. If I didn’t do what I did, fought the gun away and wrestled — it’s fight or flight. I chose to fight.”

He continued, “I went head-on with a gunman and by the grace of God, took the gun out his hand. So why am I not looked at as a hero? Why am I not praised like “wow this guy did something heroic.”
